毛里塔尼亚海岸盆地位于非洲西部大西洋东岸, 是典型的中、新生代被动大陆边缘盆地。烃源岩主要为白垩系暗色泥岩, 有机质含量为1%~2%, 在水深200m以西地区已经成熟;古近系和新近系砂岩孔隙度为20%~30%, 是最为有利的勘探目标。滨外浅海陆架至陆坡地区(水深200~1 500 m)位于成熟源岩范围内, 储层和圈闭均发育, 目的层埋深1 000~3 000 m, 是最佳远景区。
The Mauritania Coast Basin represents a classical passive margin basin created in response to the opening and drift of the Atlantic Ocean, which began in the Late Permian/Early Triassic times. According to the geological setting around, several oil-generative assemblages may bo exit in the study area, including Palaeozoic, Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous, but the Cretaceous dark mudstones are the main source rocks. The TOCs of Cretaceous source rocks are 1%-2%, which have been mature in the west of sea where water depth is 200 m. The Palaeogene and Neogene turbid sandstone is by far the most favourable target. Considering the petroleum geological characteristics, it is concluded that the pay zone is located in 200-1500 metres of water between shelf and slope.
