Abstract
Based on the current research status of fine reservoir description of the thermal recovery heavy oil reservoir, it is indicated that complete research methods and technique systems have formed abroad, among them the reservoir development process monitoring and fine characterization of remaining oil distribution with seismic technology have reached a high level; meanwhile the domestic researchers have done a lot of jobs and made certain progress on single body sand fine description, interlayer insulation and reservoir change rules in the thermal recovery process, etc. Based on the authors′ research experiences, it is believed that the main difficulties of the research of thermal recovery of heavy oil reservoirs are fine stratigraphic division and correlation, sedimentary microfacies study, interlayer insulation development rule description, reservoir classification evaluation, and integrated geological modeling research. Based on the formation above, the key research development directions of fine reservoir description of thermal recovery of heavy oil are fine description of fracture systems based on well-seismic data, classification evaluation of geological bodies, the reservoir change law of heavy oil thermal recovery, 4D seismic monitoring of remaining oil distribution law, and physical simulation and numerical simulation of interlayer insulation packer ability.
