According to the latest oil and gas exploration data, the researchers use the geometric modeling technology to analyze the structural characteristics and accumulation process of Horgos anticline on the basis of fault-related fold theory. The research shows that the process of Himalayan movement in three acts formed Horgos anticline, which brought out a stacked combination: the triangular wedge tectonic in the deep site and overthrust body in the shallow. There are two oil and gas filling stages. The first stage is low mature oil filling in Cretaceous which was caused by recoil faulting; the second stage is the mixed Jurassic mature oil and Cretaceous gas filling which was caused by the shallow thrust faulting. In view of the tectonic evolution of the Horgos anticline and its reservoir control, Donggou Formation footwall traps are also the favorable oil and gas exploration areas of Horgos anticline besides Ziniquanzi and Shawan Formations.
