Abstract
Yubei Area of Tarim Basin experienced multiple tectonic movements. Structure is complex and fracture zones develop. Combined with the new 3D seismic data and regional geology data, the analysis results show that the fracture system has the characteristics of diverse patterns, multiple epochs, inheritance superposition reconstruction, plane distribution and segmentation along strike. The fracture is basement-involved pattern below the Middle Cambrian formation and above Middle Cambrian formation, the fracture is cover-slipped pattern along Middle Cambrian salt layer, which mainly form in Caledonian and Hercynian. Activity in Hercynian is weak, and fracture activity and period are different from east to west. Activity is strong and amplitude is large during Middle-Late Caledonian in the eastern fault and fold zone. But activity is strong during Late Hercynian in the western region. The two period fractures are overlapped in Yubei 7, Yubei 1 and Yudong 3 fault zones. Fracture zones control reservoir development, which is the most favorable direction of hydrocarbon migration and accumulation. This study has great significance for guiding the hydrocarbon exploration in this area.
