Through analyzing the geological statistics and experimental data of shale samples, it is considered that shale gas can develop in Upper Paleozoic reservoir in eastern Uplift. Shale gas is a gas-gathering body which mainly includes absorbed gas and free gas. The gas content is an important parameter to evaluate the shale gas directly. The gas-bearing properties of Upper Paleozoic Taiyuan and Shanxi Formations shale gas are systematically analyzed based on the shale distribution, organic geochemical characteristics, physical properties, gas generation capability and gas-bearing content. Upper Paleozoic shale in eastern Uplift is transitional facies with rich dark shale, high organic matter abundance and evolution degree, mainly producing Ⅲ Kerogen. The physical property of reservoir is good, gas generation capability is strong and gas content is about 1.28-4.62 m3/t. Comprehensive evaluation shows that the gas-bearing properties of Upper Paleozoic shale in eastern Uplift is good, which is the potential formation for shale gas exploration.
