Abstract
The reservoirs in the Quan 2 faulted block, Liuquan Oilfield, are dominated by slitstone, where oil wells cannot be normally put into production due to thin oil layers, low productivity and severe sand production. Considering the challenges in the faulted block, such as low temperature, strong water-sensitivity, and long sand control section in horizontal well, a study was made on premature sand control concerning HP gravel pack in long horizontal section. The continuous packing string was designed, and the corresponding completion fluid system, perforation program and sand-carrier fluid system were improved. In this way, sand prevention, sand control, and reservoir stimulation were combined in this technique. It has been successfully applied in 4 wells in the Quan 2 faulted block. This technique makes the thin and strong water-sensitive slitstone oil reservoir no longer non-producible, and also provides a technical reference for the development of other similar reservoirs.
