THEORY OF MINIMUM ENTROPY DECONVOLVTION

The key problem discussed in this paper is, to be short, the condition of the application of MED. Or in other words, in what cases on earth can the MED be applied to the seismic processing?First, we have a discussion about the properties of the Normalized Norm (see formolae (1) and (2) of this paper), and then, make an examination of the single and multiple trace MED. For the single trace MED, we’ve proved that a single spike output would be obtained if a long enough factor was adopted and thus,only the prerequisites presented by C33 are satisfied, can the MED be put into practice and lead to a good result. For the multiple trace MED, we’ve proved that the multiple reflection coefficient must be a simplest reflection coefficient system (see Definition 3 of this paper).
