The assumption of frequency-independent of Q is usually valid within the seismic frequency band. After reviewing the transferring relation of upcoming and downgoing waves between any two layers in a layered media, the paper gives an algorithm for calculating Synthetic Vertical Seismic Profiles (SVSP) in layered media with frequency independent Q. The effects of attenuation, geometric divergence and frequency-dispersion are also discussed in the paper.
