Abstract
The equitable spherical diffusion compensation is one of the important factors in relative amplitude-preserve processing. In this paper, the compensation factor of spherical diffusion was derived, which is for the reflection from horizontal interface and with arbitary offsets on condition that the medium is continuous and its velocity is increasing linearly with depth. By comparing with the factor of zero-offset, the following conclusion has been reached, that is, in many of the cases, the affect of the offset on the spherical diffusion was so slight that it could be ignored.
