3-D geological structure model building is the key technique for 3-D geological modeling and becomes more and more important in petroleum exploration. 3-D geological structure model building can be classified into geological curved surface reconstruction, topological analysis of geological curved surfaces, and solid modeling in 3-D space. In geological curved surface reconstruction, based on non-restraint geological surface reconstruction method, the geologic-constrained curved surface fitting technique was proposed to realize the construction of geologic surface in stretching and compressing conditions. In topology of geologic curved surfaces, crossing point sorting and intersection lines separation algorithm with topology information were proposed, which can process the complex relationship between geologic boundary and geologic bodies to achieve the grids with strict consistency in geometry and topology. After building 3-D geological framework model, the strata block abruption method was proposed. In addition, based on the definition of strata sedimentary characteristics, the algorithm of generating 3-D strata grids was put forward. Till now, the whole workflow for 3-D geologic structure model building was completed.
