We experienced monitoring and imaging hydro-fracture processes with a small-scale seismic array on land surface by vector
scanning technique for micro-fracture,for verifying the feasibility and reliability of the method. The technique stacks the
recorded vectors of seismic stations with properly considering mechanism of micro-fracture.To correctly achieve fracture
geometry with respect to time,we have to consider the microseismic mechanism of shear fractures, ensure the seismometers
precise synchronization in time and good coupling with the earth, distribute the seismic array sparsely more than 1~3 km far
from fracturing vehicles, and interpret the fracture geometry based on physical mechanics and known characteristics for the
fractures. The vector scanning technique significantly shows the fracture imaging quality, and provides us a cost-effective
approach for monitoring flow-enhancement hydro-fracture processes.
