The quality of seismic data is often influenced by industrial noise in old oilfield exploration. Notch-filtering is
commonly used for removing industrial noise and leads to damage the effective signal. Methods based
Cosine or Sine function approach is only adaptable to the cases that the amplitude, frequency and phase of
industrial noise are stable. The adaptability of the method was limited during actual data processing and it
has the disadvantage of large calculation amount and low calculation efficiency on the base of analysis of
existing methods. Therefore, the recursion filtering algorithm was proposed to suppress industrial noise. The
recursion filter is derived based on industrial noise cyclicity, the operator of recursion filter is modified to
ensure the stability and physical feasibility. Tests on synthetic and real data show that this method can
remove the industrial noise and avoid the damage to effective signal at the same time.
