Correct interpretation of fault patterns is one of the important aspects for the characterization of complex faulted
traps.On the basis of the published research achievements, we carry out deep study on the local structure pattern in
complex faulted area, analyze crossing pattern and geometry characteristics of two normal faults, and conclude
three types (ten kinds) double fault patterns including intersection, cutting and sealing. Then, the corresponding
relationship of the double faults in space, plane and profile is established. Moreover, a normal fault pattern
interpretation method is developed, which use triple profiles at particular position and strike to uniquely identify
one kind of fault pattern.
