Fracture prediction by using 3D3C seismic data based on S-wave splitting characteristics of fracture media has
achieved good application results;however, the utilization of 2D3C seismic data for fracture prediction need further
research.Firstly, fracture response recorded on 2D3C seismic data is analyzed and the fracture detection principles
are discussed. Then, rotation of horizontal components of 2D3C seismic data and correlation processing of fast and
slow S-wave are carried out.In accordance with the imaging similarity of fast and slow S-wave,a similarity
coefficient function for 2D3C seismic data is established to predict fracture. The predicted direction of fracture by
using actual 2D3C seismic data is coinciding with the direction of faulted system in the area.
