On the basis of the tuning characteristics, phase variation characteristics, ratio of amplitude variation with
frequency,we study Harmonic Frequencies Characteristics (HFC) analysis technique to carry out hydrocarbon
identification and prediction of thin reservoirs (bodies). The difference of reflection frequency spectrum is caused by
different hydrocarbon content of thin reservoirs (bodies).According to this point,we analyze the frequency
spectrum of production intervals from known sample wells, and verify the difference of frequency spectrum. Then
,some frequency-domain sensitive attributes which can be used to characterize the difference of frequency
spectrum are carried out crossplot analysis. Finally, feature value (anomaly) of hydrocarbon distribution is obtained
to identify the hydrocarbon content of thin reservoirs (bodies). The HFC technique is applied to identify oil and water
on thin sand reservoirs and carbonate fracture-cave reservoirs, which is verified by drilling data, and the
coincidence ratio separately reaches 84.4% and 81.0%.
